Bellevue, Wash. - May 15, 2006 - IntraLearn Software
Corp. of Northboro, Mass., a leading supplier of Microsoft technology-based, turnkey
e-Learning software, announced today the release of its new LearningServer for SharePoint.
The enterprise learning application is designed specifically for Microsoft SharePoint
users who see mission-critical learning as an organizational imperative and seek
to dramatically maximize their SharePoint investment.
By transparently integrating with SharePoint, LearningServer exploits SharePoint’s
powerful capabilities in document management, integration with the Microsoft Office
system, single log-on, portals, localization and SharePoint Server dashboard capabilities.
The turnkey application delivers a system capable of quickly delivering and managing
learning across an entire enterprise. What SharePoint enables in document sharing,
storage, security and distribution can now be extended to learning. SharePoint users
can derive more value from their informational assets by converting them to measurable
learning that is immediately available to everyone who needs it, no matter where
they are or the language they speak.
“Our history and vision is consistently focused on building e-Learning software
as a commodity,” said Jerry Goguen, CEO of IntraLearn. “SharePoint Server eliminates
much of the underlying elements we would have required that are fundamental to our
application. The net result is a familiar yet rich experience at a fraction of the
cost of other solutions.”
Learning Server for SharePoint is a software application that enables the rapid
delivery of blended learning from within SharePoint. Content is created in the Microsoft
Office system, off-the shelf authoring tools or imported courseware from third-party
vendors. The system manages both interactive eLearning and live learning events.
The product also introduces a new modular design that lets customers build their
own learning system from the bottom-up, purchasing only the functionality they need
when they need it. These “Collections” plug directly into Learning Server for SharePoint
to provide substantial functionality like Collaboration, Content Management, Career
Development and Enhanced Management.
“Learning Server for SharePoint is a terrific example of an application that that
been designed to take advantage of the powerful document management and enterprise
collaboration strengths of SharePoint,” said Kurt DelBene, Corporate Vice President,
Microsoft Office Server Group. “By adding an important learning environment directly
into the upcoming SharePoint Server 2007, it will extend the Microsoft Office system
and SharePoint Server 2007 value even further for customers.”
