A Message from the CEO
Jerry Goguen - CEO
As we take a glimpse at the year ahead, I would like to touch on the differences between our LearningServer and IntraLearn products and the development that is in-progress.
IntraLearn, originally released in 1997, has been our full Learning Management System offering for over 10 years. The ISC development team is hard at work on the next revision of IntraLearn, version 6.0, which will share the underlying code of our LearningServer product. In addition to retaining existing functionality and adding new features, version 6.0 will become 100% Microsoft .NET-based.
Among other enhancements, IntraLearn 6.0 will use the familiar Microsoft Office user-interface.
Released in 2005, LearningServer is not a full LMS, but rather a modular "Ala Carte" offering for organizations looking to pick-and-choose the specific functionality they require in an eLearning system. LearningServer ships with the basic functionality of launching, tracking, and reporting. Additional functionality, such as discussion, chat, and course assembler, can be purchased whenever the end user's needs and budget dictate.
New module development for LearningServer is continuing along quite nicely.
Please look to future editions of the newsletter and the Partner/Customer Resource Centers (mentioned below) for more details and updates on IntraLearn 6.0 as they become available. We look forward to releasing these product upgrades and improvements to our partner channel, customers, and the LMS marketplace.

Technology Corner
Greg Aspen - V.P. of Technical Development
Spring is a great time to talk about a new feature that can be utilized to provide broad support for document management and course delivery. I am referring to LearningServer's Document Event Handler (DEH). This is part of LearningServer's SharePoint integrated feature set which also includes integrated single sign-on user authentication and role-based web part access. LearningServer's DEH allows course developers to store and manage SCORM-conformant eLearning courses in the document library of their choosing within SharePoint while delivering and tracking course usage within LearningServer. The strength of the DEH lies in its underlying web services API and its ability to support remote domain content hosting and overcome the limitations associated with hosting SCORM-conformant courses on a remote domain...click to continue reading
